Valerie Bird was in to discuss the Tolland transfer station requirements. Third party inspections have not been done since 2014. The annual survey required by DEP has never been completed. Therefore, Tolland has not been eligible for grant opportunities. Valerie has completed the survey for 2017 and researching info for 2016. Tolland missed a recycling grant. Valerie has obtained signage as required by DEP and is looking to obtain recycling bins. There are some free things available to the Town that will enable Tolland to be eligible for grants. A textile box and a book box were discussed. They are no cost items to the town and give the town recycling credits toward grants.

Fire Chief Munson, stated that the Southwick Fire Department expressed interest in the military truck owned by the Fire Department. Selectmen Steve moved to authorize, seconded by Patrick. The motion carried unanimously.

The Fire Department listed Engine 4 and all interested parties to submit a letter to include their needs.

A discussion of using the Tolland Public Library basement to create a “firefighter training maze”. Eric will contact the Library Trustees. The department would also like to purchase and place a metal box container at the DPW site to be used for training. Chief Munson and Ed will walk the property to see if there is a possible location.
